Osteo Treatments For The Over-Fifties
No one should put up with pain or stiffness prematurely just because they’ve been told they’ve got arthritis!
Arthritis, or signs of wear and tear, aren’t so different from normal wear and tear on an oldish but reliable car – it wouldn’t surprise us and doesn’t automatically mean the car is about to malfunction or develop a serious problem.
The Osteoworks team are trusted pain relief experts. Our skilled osteopaths offer a wide range of services to help you get relief from pain and improve your overall health. Contact us today on 09 473 3529 to make a booking!
North Shore Osteopath Helping Older Kiwis Get Up And Going
It’s always worth trying osteopathic treatment first before you decide that you’re going to have to make friends with that niggle, ache or pain for the rest of your years. You might just be surprised how much more comfortable you can be and wonder why you didn’t do something sooner.
Our Osteo Treatments Vary Across The Age Ranges – Not One Size Fits All!
We use a range of techniques appropriate for the older patient to loosen joints and help improve comfortable movement – nothing forceful or sudden, especially in sensitive areas such as the neck and shoulder joints.
Suggestions for exercise and conditioning are part of what we do, and they are important for helping recover strength and with it confidence in one’s movements.
This is so important as we all slowly lose muscle mass and strength from about the age of forty. This makes us all vulnerable to new niggles and problems when doing familiar activities that never gave us problems before – unless we take active steps to slow down or reverse that loss.
Reasons why people see our North Shore osteopath
Typical complaints from the 50-plus age range include knee and low back problems, often associated with a lifetime of heavy work or sports. Shoulder issues are common, perhaps due to the increased frequency of muscle (rotator cuff) tears in older people.
We also treat a lot of cases of hip joint pain, more among women, which often comes hand in hand with low back problems as the two areas of movement are interrelated.
We mustn’t forget the infamous sciatica, which in most cases will be due to pressure on the nerve from bone compression rather than from a bulging disc, which is more common among the under forties.
