Ear infections and glue ear

In children 6 months to 4 years of age one of the most common conditions is chronic ear infections or glue ear. It can coincide with teething. A common sign  is a change in his mood  - becoming fussy, or crying more than usual, Ear infections tend to strike after a cold, Your baby may also pull at their ears more than normal.

  • A major cause of ear infections in children is being given a bottle of milk or formula while lying down. The milk can collect in the eustation tubes (ducts from the middle ear to the back of the throat) and become infected.

Food sensitivity to dairy is sometimes present and by removing dairy from the diet the infections can disappear.

If you find that your child is in a cycle of ear infections and antibiotics being repeatedly prescribed, then osteopathy may help to break this cycle.

Jill and Chris were both trained in the U.K and started Osteoworks back in 2004 when they moved to N.Z from London with their son.
