Cerebral Palsy

This is a condition of permanent disorder of the brain causing physical disability. In many cases there is no identifiable cause however problems in intrauterine development (e.g. exposure to radiation, infection), lack of oxygen before and during birth, and birth trauma during labour and delivery, as well as complications in the pre-natal period or during childhood can all be contributing factors.

Osteopathy can't undo the damage to the nervous system but can help to maximise the function that the child has e.g. massage to cotracted tight muscles will often help them to relax more improving their ability to move and function more normally.
